Is there a vitamin or special food to feed my dog to stop her excessive shedding?
First, she is long haired and therefore if you live in a very dry area it is possible she is shedding more because she is too hot and that is her body’s only defense. It is natural for double coated breeds to shed at least once a year and if you live in warm areas or your dog is an inside dog it is possible that the dog will shed all year round because the dogs body doesnt recognize the season changes anymore like it would in the wild. I recommend that you buy a very good slicker brush from your local pet store and use it everyday. Also buy a large Furminator and use it daily as well it will strip the undercoat out. Pay special attention around the dogs neck, shoulders, chest, back of legs, and on their back hips as these are the most common problem areas. What your dog needs is a very good bath to loosen the undercoat and lots of conditioner on the skin to help the hair work its way out.
