Is there a vaccine against chickenpox and herpes zsoster ?

There is a chicken pox vaccine which has been combined with the MMR giving MMRC. It has been used extensively in the US and on the Continent and will be introduced here. The reason for the delay in the UK has been that senior health officials are concerned that it may reduce the uptake of MMR even further after the disastrous PR problems that the incorrect scare stories produced here. It is thought that the vaccine once given will also reduce the future incidence of Zoster in immunised individuals, though again there have been some unfounded scare stories that the reverse might be true.
