Is there a trick to remember grammar rules?
I suggest the following method which in my opinion should be beneficial to the learning of German grammar : visualizing abstract grammar rules through concrete examples and/or analyzing a moderately difficult formal text. For each rule, make an effort to give at least one simple example yourself, no matter how trivial it could be. Among the most complicated rules are adjective declination and verb conjugation, which can’t be grasped by rote learning but could be easier to remember with self-made examples. If doing so doesn’t prove to be helpful, but rather time-consuming, text analyzing could be the better solution. Moderately complicated non-fictional texts, or texts written in formal tone in general are most suitable for grammatical analysis. This method is quite promising as it can carve grammar rules deeply into your mind.
