is there a superstition regarding a dead bird?
The superstition is that if you find a dead bird at your door, there will be a death in the family. Considering that I once had a cat who left all kinds of dead things at my door, including birds and, twice, a pigeon, and my family is still all alive and well, I wouldn’t really put too much truth into it. The way I disposed of it was to pick it up with a plastic grocery bag, mostly so it wouldn’t smell too bad, and throw it in the garbage. I was born in a small town, and my grandmother had a lot of sayings likes this one, but even she didn’t believe much of it. You should hear some of the folks medicine she swore by, though.
