Is there a strong community consensus vision for the site?
At the public meeting on February 13, 2007, there was a strong consensus regarding a desire to reactivate the site with commercial/retail use and a strongly-expressed desire for a restaurant and/or youth-amenable use. There was debate at the meeting on the benefits of smaller-scale infill redevelopment versus large-scale redevelopment assembling more of the block. The recent Penn-West Broadway TOD plan, which provided forums for this discussion over several months in 2006, supports an infill strategy in the immediate term and prioritizes reactivation over large-scale redevelopment.
