Is there a specific process to fight violence against children?
In my view, some mechanisms could be put in place. They include : – Promote prevention campaigns and accordingly raise awareness throughout the country on this type of crime – Make denunciation of any kind of violence against children compulsory and penalise any default – Teach children to shield themselves against possible attempts of abduction in school sessions (teacher + specialist) – Establish specialised police brigades, that include a coordination and think tank unit – Develop a national database about individuals rated dangerous – Train negotiators to be called in cases involving child hostages, as well as a children’s rights mediator – Reinforce the existing hotline and make it accessible any time free of charge.
