Is there a special condition for the application of water base paints on cement, asbestos-cement, concrete or, in general, over alkaline surfaces?
Yes. If you are going to apply a water base paint on alkaline surfaces such as cement, asbestos-cement or concrete, you must neutralize previously the surface with a 10% solution of muriatic acid in water. Allow the acid to act on the surface for at least 15 minutes. Then rinse with plenty of water; allow the surface to dry completely and seal the porous areas with Neutral Recol® Plaster. Use appropriate personal protection equipment.
