Is there a shooting qualification requirement to obtain a Nevada CCW permit?
Yes. Nevada requires a 30 round qualification shooting test (6 12, and 12 rounds at 3, 5 and 7 yards respectively). A minimum score of 70% for each make and model of semi-automatic handgun that you wish to list on your permit is required. Revolvers are a bit simpler, as any make and model of revolver that you qualify with allows you to carry any other make/model of revolver. A Derringer is considered a revolver. Permits are stamped either “Revolvers Authorized” or “Revolvers Not Authorized”, whereas each model and make of semi-automatic handgun is listed separately on the permit. 5 shot revolvers require a 25 round qualification (5, 10 & 10 rounds at the same distances) with the same 70% minimum to pass. Shooting is freestyle with no time limit, exceptions are: no bench rest and no lasers. (In order to maximize your future options, if you do not have a revolver, we will supply one for your qualification test. Just bring 30 rounds of 38 Special ammo).
