Is there a risk of deep vein thrombosis when sclerosant is injected into the Superficial vein?
There is no risk of this taking place as the obliteration of the vein can only take Place if the sclerosant is in high concentration. This only takes place in the stagnant circulation of the diseased vein. Once the drug enters then normal deep venous circulation it is diluted and carried away in the flow and causes no harmful effects.
