Is there a risk of complications from having a venereal wart (condyloma acuminata) infection during pregnancy?
In most cases there is no increased risk of complications from venereal warts during pregnancy. In some rare cases, the warts can grow to about the size of a golf ball. Filled with blood vessels, they can cause considerable loss of blood. Should a baby be born vaginally to a mother with a serious case of venereal warts as described above, there there is a risk that the baby may acquire warts on or near the vocal chords.
