Is there a requirement to justify Estate Costs or Indirect Costs in a proposal?
No. TRAC methodology is designed to ensure that, overall, Estate Costs and Indirect Costs charged are a fair and reasonable reflection of the costs incurred. What do Indirect Costs pay for? Indirect costs cover the costs of the Universitys administrative services – Personnel, Finance, Facilities, Library etc. Do Indirect Cost rates apply to technicians? No. The FTE used as the denominator for indirect costs is based on research staff on the project (PIs; RAs; PGRs) and in this respect, technicians are not regarded as research staff. What about grant transfers? It will be possible to transfer fEC grants – in the same way as pre-fEC. Grants will not be re-costed. The balance of unspent Directly Incurred and Exceptions, plus a pro-rata share of Directly Allocated and Indirect costs will be available for transfer, following a financial reconciliation of the grant. What information will Research Organisations be asked to provide at the end of grant reconciliation? Directly Incurred and Exce
