Several groups have acquired a trademark on Buteyko related services. A recent trademark application of the name Buteyko has been declined in most classes such as using the name for books, training, correspondence courses. This will help clarify any claims by groups or individuals to certain “rights” or privileges regarding the espousal of the Buteyko Method. Buteyko practitioner Patrick McKeown sent the following letter as a third party observation against the registration of the trademark name BUTEYKO. This letter was supported by a number of letters from other Buteyko practitioners from Europe to highlight the common use of the name Buteyko.
