Hi, there are many GPS device for cars available for under $500. In particular the Tom Tom ONE XL is available for just $350. I’ve had a good experience with Tom Tom the directions it gives are very clear and the devices seem to be quite speedy – there isnt any lag. However one point that should be made is that you should update the Tom Tom maps, so it knows all the latest roads. Mine can with both american and european maps. Of course Tom Tom is the main manufacture of GPS for cars, however there are others available that are just as good. Your other option is that if you have a PDA or mobile phone that runs windows mobile, you can buy tom tom software to run on that, although you would also need to be a GPS reciever.
