Is there a real pirate inside of Johnny Depp?
Johnny Depp: Well, I’d be lying if I didn’t admit there was some sort of pirate inside of me! But I think we do all have a pirate inside of us. It goes back to when we were kids. When we wanted to be a pirate, a karate guy, a cow boy. It’s about freedom and rebellion and being free of responsibility. It’s borderline criminal for me to do this job and realising that I’m being paid to do it. It’s a lot of work but it’s so much fun. Allocine: So even though you’re kind of a pirate, and pirates have many wives along the Seven Seas, you’re still with the same wife, Vanessa Paradis. What is the secret of your long term relationship? Johnny Depp: Well, Vanessa and the kids are so important to me because they kind of revealed me to me. I will always remember when Vanessa got pregnant and all the thoughts that came into my head. You start thinking about the future and everything. It was the beginning of self revelation. When my daughter was born it was like a veil was lifted, a fog was removed
