Is there a program that helps with room, board and some personal care?
Yes. Ohio has a Residential State Supplement (RSS) program for low-income seniors who need limited care. The RSS can be added to the resident’s income to bring his or her total income up to a maximum of $900 a month. Unfortunately, this is not enough to pay for most assisted living on the private market. It does, however, help some seniors who can thrive in family care homes or group homes serving from three to 16 residents.
