At Tamala Park we implement a Feral Animal Control Program to conserve and protect native flora and fauna. The control program consists of trapping feral cats and using 1080 poison for feral rabbit and fox control. This is undertaken every 3 months. There is a 200m trapping exclusion zone inside the Tamala Park boundary adjacent to Kinross. Micro-chipped or name tagged cats will be released. Attempts will be made to contact owners. Cats without an identified owner and showing domesticated behaviour will be released the first time they are trapped. If subsequently re-trapped they will be treated as strays and may be transferred to a local vet or cat re-homing centre who are required to hold them for 7 days before re-homing. Please contact the MRC Environmental Officer on 0410963225 or 9306 6315 if you would like to check MRC’s cat trapping records or for further information regarding the program.
