Is there a prescription stool softener for constipation suitable for a 15 month old?
Regular, plain old prune juice, about 8oz. is the best. Works by the end of the day in many cases, be prepared for the fireworks! The other product I’ve used is called Babylax. It’s a one-time use product, individual applicators. It’s just liquid glycerin suppositories, much faster and easier on you and baby, a softener but not a laxative. This works in MINUTES, so don’t let him get too far! It’s best if you’ve tried the prune juice and it didn’t help. My 18 month old had recurring problems with constipation, but the doc never once gave us a prescription, just recommended these to us. (We got 2 free sample babylax but you can buy them from the drugstore.) Also, now I give him 1/2 to 1 teaspoon of Benefiber every day, the tasteless clear stuff, in his morning cup of juice during breakfast. He hasn’t noticed it in his juice but it really keeps him regular. I would steer clear of anything prescription until you’ve tried these remedies- they work, I can tell you, as the one who’s had to cl
