A. The preference would be for an automatic configuration. However, some Web-based applications (e.g. the Quicktime player) will work only with a manually set proxy. When manually setting the proxy, use the name proxy.abdn.ac.uk in preference to proxy0.abdn.ac.uk or proxy1.abdn.ac.uk. Only if you suspect that one of the proxies is unreachable should you consider changing the selected proxy to proxy0 or proxy1.
