Data entry of form information will be enabled in OASIS. However, there is no plan to automate the form (form flow). The design and intended use of the form does not lend itself to automation. Q: I understand that the form can be used to resolve not only “on the spot” inspections but also such issues as pilot deviations, provided the elements of an administrative action are present. Is this correct? A: Yes and No. Assuming that administrative action is appropriate, the form is intended for on-the-spot use where an alleged violation does not require extensive investigation. For example, when an inspector or special agent personally observes an alleged violation OR when evidence of an alleged violation is readily available. A pilot deviation resolved over the phone may be considered on-the-spot, depending on specifics. However, if a Letter of Investigation has been sent and you are closing out a written response (or lack of response) use of the form would NOT be appropriate.
