I am not sure about Seattle but I remember always seeing carpet cleaning equipment for rent in the supermarket. I have seen them for rent in the Supermarket here in New York and also in Texas where I was raised. If you do not see it up front by the check out registers, go to the customer service area and ask them. I know what you mean I would not want to purchase one for the small amount of time I would be using it. You could look under Home Cleaning equiptment in the yellow pages and find companies you can rent from. Today you can rent anything even furniture and televisions. good luck!
