Is there a particular type of feeder that is good for finches?

Finches generally prefer to feed from tubular style feeders filled with Nyjer® seed (often sold as “thistle”) or a mix of Nyjer® and sunflower chips. They also will come to feeders with black oil sunflower seeds. If you choose a tube, be sure it has the appropriate size holes for the seed you put in it. Take your feeders down while you are away from home (unless a neighbor will keep them filled for you) so that they don’t stand empty. The birds will go elsewhere to dine, but likely will return soon after you come back and put filled feeders out again.
