Is there a need for near HD multiparty personal telepresence to help with teleworking?
Wayne, There is a need but the challenge is both cultural and bandwidth. A home office with full HD Telepresence needs a high-speed network and the ‘know how’ to support it. Having been in video conferencing & collaboration over the years, people just don’t like to be on video especially if they are teleworking. Most teleworkers prefer email, phone and the occasional web conference with no video. Sales professionals and executives can find it offers a personal and dynamic way to reach out to prospects, customers or employees but they need to prep in advance. A number of the vendors from HP-Halo, Cisco Telepresence, Polycomm and Tandberg all have great bandwidth intensive solutions for those who can afford to spend and support it.
