Is there a Native American culture group in the GTA region?
I’m not sure what you mean when you say you want to learn about Native customs, beliefs and spiritualism. If you are looking for a religion (like Christianity) that someone will teach you, you won’t find it. Native Americans have no religion, that’s a Non-Native concept. The GTA has one of the largest Native populations. The major Native populations are. the Anishinaabek (Ojibwe & related Nations), Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and the Cree. Even so there is very little mixing between those groups. All though people group Native Americans together, they are different ethnicities, as different as English, French and German. I can suggest “The Native Canadian Friendship Center” on Spadina Rd. It’s like any other community center. You can find out when there are cultural events like Powwows, Feasts and Language classes, etc. The only other resource are the Libraries. The following have substantial Native sections. Spadina Road Library – Native People’s Collection North York Central Library – N
