Is there a more powerful womens Christian organization then the LDSs (Mormon) Relief Society?
Well, women’s lib seems to have a lot of power these days… and it is a “worldwide sisterhood”, too. However, I think the prophet Spencer W. Kimball may have had a different kind of “power” in mind. He was referring to the power of love and unity, I believe. Very powerful stuff. I don’t know about the world, but I personally have not found a more empowering and happifying place than Relief Society. I am interested to know how other religious people feel about their women’s organisations. For instance, I have noticed many Muslim women have a quiet spiritual power about them. While, according to feminist standards, they are completely disempowered, according to the Godly powers of love, patience, unity and family… they do seem to be rather powerful people – a force for good. I’m sure there are godly, faithful women in every religion who have some of that power… the power of God. But yes, I believe LDS women are very blessed, and I enjoy every aspect of RS and all that it teaches me.
