Most high school courses, including electives and AP classes, have class sizes between 20 and 25. Any classes with fewer than 20 students enrolled have been and will continue to be routinely scrutinized. For example, AP European History was not offered beginning in 2009-10 due to low enrollment. Q: How much would we save if that minimum were raised? A: Every section of a course that is collapsed results in a savings of .2 (one-fifth) of a teacher. In order to reduce a full teaching position, there would need to be a reduction of five sections within a particular subject area.
