The Union, under the direction of Fr. Nick Milas, runs the Providence Teachers Union Mentor Program. Its broad design allows for individualized support for both new teachers and veteran teachers, K-12, including regular education, special education, ESL and bilingual teachers. Teachers who join this program may attend some professional development workshops offered by the Union. In addition, each teacher in the program is assigned a mentor. The teacher and his/her mentor work together on various concerns specified by the teacher. The program is voluntary and confidential. Any other information? An additional and important benefit for teachers who take advantage of the various professional development programs is meeting and learning with other Providence teachers.
