Is there a mechanism for health care organizations other than hospitals to participate in Center-led projects?
While the early projects focus on safety issues in hospitals, most of the solutions can be applied across all health care settings. The Center’s participants have substantial, real-life expertise using RPI in the health care environment. They are using a proven systematic approach to analyze specific breakdowns in care, discover their underlying causes, and develop targeted solutions that solve these complex problems. Because RPI expertise in health care today is concentrated in hospitals and health systems, the Center is beginning its work by collaborating with a group of hospitals and systems that are expert in these methods. In the future, we will include other health care organizations as RPI expertise spreads and as additional funds become available. Meanwhile, this Web site will allow organizations to have easy access to the entire hand hygiene project and future Center-led successes.
