Is there a maximum number of records sold “cap” for independent and major label artists?

0

– Yes. In order to be eligible for the RSF as an independent artist, you cannot have sold more than 300,000 units of any one previously released record. As a major label artist, you cannot have sold more than 150,000 units of any one previously released record. If you qualify for the RSF with sales that do not exceed either the independent label or major label cap and you proceed to exceed either the 300,000 unit independent label “cap” or 150,000 unit major label “cap” the RSF will consider domestic marketing and domestic touring funding for the launch of your next record only. Eligible artists who have surpassed their sales “cap” may apply for international marketing or international touring up to 18 months after the Canadian launch of their next record only – once per territory.
