Is there a market for independent equity/research analysts in India?
Not quite well if we compare to the US markets … we’ve very little in numbers independent research analysts, most of them prefer selling their ideas and reports to third pary vendors or some reputed brokerage firms or even small IB boutiques can buy their research … Majority of independent researach analysts goes fo technical analysis and opens up thier own consulting services or websites and enter into advising services, like rajatbose.com etc … I believe the reason behind of this unsuccessful area is due to non-availability of ‘Certified Research Analyst” by our controlling authorities. If you know there in US by FINRA you have to have ‘GLOBAL RESEARCH ANALYST EXAM” series 86&87 pass to either work with research division else to work as independent research analyst.
