Is There A Lot To Learn For Grade 5 Theory?

Well really it depends on how much theory you know anyway just from general music playing. I managed to get from no theory to passing grade 5 theory in 6 months but I had to work really hard to get it. If you’re willing to put the effort in then it will be worth it. Also you have been put in that group for a reason…so if you don’t understand something say…there is absolutely no point in pretending you know something when you don’t…also you need to tell you haven’t taken grade 5 theory yet. I would recomend taking it anyway because theory helps a lot about how you think of a piece you are about to play. Also from experience I say that there was probably at least one person in that room that didn’t know how to use a dominant 7th to change key and was probably secretly glad they weren’t the only one. Grade 5 theory can actually turn out to be quite fun and not quite a chore, give it a go it will definately help.
