Is there a lot of prep needed for a KinderLit book?
Teacher prep time includes copying and stapling or binding a book for each child and preparing the collage materials for each page. We include a set of directions with a list of materials for each page. Although exact measurements are given for the paper needed, we cut the paper in approximate sizes since the children learn to measure and trim themselves. We spend about 5 minutes cutting the squares and rectangles for the next day’s page and place all the sizes in baskets on the work tables. This way we do not have to clip the paper together for each child (takes too long!) and the children are responsible for choosing the correct sizes for each part of the illustrations. If you have a team of teachers, each team member can be responsible for cutting the paper for one page for all the classes. Then the teachers swap the papers they have cut so that every teacher ends up with the paper for all the pages of the book.
