Is there a lot of lab work in chemistry class?
Most chemistry courses—high school courses or chemistry courses—will involve some sort of lab work as part of the course. Usually less than half of the entire course is devoted to lab work, as more time is devoted to lectures and assessments. High school chemistry courses generally work with less dangerous materials than you might find on a college campus (in a chemistry major program, for example). Regardless of what materials you may be working with, all students are generally required to wear both lab coats and protective eyewear. Also, most chemistry classes are required to have an eye flush fountain right in the class—this water fountain for the eyes is used to rinse your eyes and face off if you do come into contact with any materials. Chemistry classes are generally considered quite safe, so don’t be fearful if you are required to take one.
