Is there a list of illnesses that Social Security considers automatically disabling?
There is a list of very severe conditions that include blindness and deafness. Because most types of illness can vary from minor to severe, most conditions are not considered automatically disabling. The severity of the disability is determined by an individual evaluation along with the impact the disability has on the person’s ability to work.
