Is there a link between breast feeding and brain function?
In recent years there has been much debate over breastfeeding versus formula feeding. The World Health Organisation (WHO) recommends exclusive breastfeeding for the first six months of life. Breastfed babies have larger amounts of Omega-3 fatty acids incorporated in the brain compared with formula-fed infants. Some studies on this topic have reported that breastfeeding is associated with higher scores for cognitive development tests than formula feeding.
