Is there a Jazz Ensemble, Percussion Ensemble, or Steel Drums at MSU?
The Jazz Ensemble rehearses in the Band hall from 12:30-1:50 on Tuesday/Thursday. You must contact Mr. Alan Black at 397-4186 to make arrangements for auditions or placement in the Jazz Ensemble. The Jazz Ensemble is always looking for great players. The Percussion Ensemble is an group of percussionists under the direction of Alan Black that performs percussion music. MSU also has a Steel Drum band call The Steel Bandits under Mr. Black’s direction. The Percussion Ensemble and The Steel Bandits rehearse every week during the fall and spring semesters. One hour of credit is available each semester. Contact Alan Black if you are interested in playing in the Percussion Ensemble or in playing steel drums. Do I have to audition for the Marching Band and what do I have to provide to be in the Marching Band? There is no audition to be in the MSU Marching Band.
