You can research almost any national law on the website findlaw.com, http://www.findlaw.com. They have an extensive database of court rulings that you can research. Another good site is the Legal Information Institute of the Law School at Cornell University, http://www.law.cornell.edu. However, on both of those sites, you will tend to find information pertaining only to Federal law, or to cases that have been adjudicated in the Federal courts. When I need information on the law in my home state of Illinois, I use the official website of the state government, at http://www.state.il.gov. The entire Illinois legal code is on line, as well as decisions rendered by the State Supreme Court. Finally, I can go to my city’s official website to look up local ordinances, but not court ruling
