Is there a free or cheap alternative to “Sony Acid Music Studio” for mastering and recording?
Acid Music Studio is relatively cheap as it is. If you are using it for non-commercial purposes, Reaper is only $50 and is much more powerful than Sony Music Studio. It is arguably more powerful than Acid Pro, but does not handle loops as well and does not have anything similar to beatmapper. Even if you don’t have the $50 right now, the trial is 100% functional even after the trial expires. They use an honor system of sorts. In any case, it is more than worth the $50. in fact, it is worth the $250 license that they ask for if you are using for commercial purposes. download it and give it a spin. You have nothing to lose.
