Is there a domesticated breed of cottontail rabbit?

0

No all domesic rabbits are descended from the European wild rabbit. Cottontails are solitary by nature and solitary animals are hard to to domesticate. Also there would be little point in doing so as there are already so many domestic breeds available already.

No, domestic rabbits are very different than cottontails, speaking of genetics. One has like 21 chromosomes, and the other has 20 while hares have 22. They don’t even interbreed well or often as the offspring are sterile if born. Usually a cross between a cottontail and a domestic rabbit dies within hours of being born.
