Is there a directory of freelance writers and/or editors who specialize in pet stories?
I just finished the new brochures for my dog vacation business, Canine Club Getaway (www.canineclubgetaway.com), and am looking to pitch this as a story to pet editors and freelancers who write about dog-related topics. I know the idea (a resort vacation geared specifically for dogs and the people who love them) has good story potential, and I was able to secure story placement in several major New York newspapers last year, as well as online, and on radio and local TV stations. This year, I’m hoping to do a better job at promoting our business through editorial coverage in varoius media outlets. I am doing a press release with PRWeb, partnering with pet stores & charities, hosting booths at local dog events, and doing minimal advertising on Facebook, which we did well with last year. Our budget is pretty limited (read: nonexistent), but I’m a writer/editor by trade, so I’m comfortable writing releases, pitching editors, etc. Still, I do need to figure out is how to reach the right edi
