Prior to the implementation of NIBRS, data were not available at the national level to address this question. NIBRS provides the level of detail about offender-victim relationships and the crime locations that are needed for this analysis. The data files needed for this multiple segment analysis are from the file saved in the example of Intimate Partner Multiple Segment Analysis – Research Question 1 and the incident-level aggregated flat file produced in Preparing Individual File Segments For Detailed Analysis. The original data source was the 1999 NIBRS hierarchical data file’s victim segment. This segment was saved as a separate file. In the first research question examined in the intimate partner single segment analysis, the incidents involving intimate partners were identified and these incidents were examined again
