Is there a difference in reading glasses versus computer glasses?

In my experience, computer glasses take into account the distance from your eyes to the computer screen – reading distance, in my case, is somewhat different. Another observation on the headaches – I know that my neck is the source of a lot of my computer headaches – consider that.

I’m just a user, not someone in the medical field so I can only discuss my own personal experience. I too had headaches from looking at computer monitors for hours. Towards the end of the day, my head would start throbbing. It’s difficult trying to write software when your head hurts. Every afternoon I had to take pain killers and went home with a headache. I had a pair of glasses made specifically for the monitor distance. I also bought ultra lightweights which don’t add any noticiable pressure on the nose or ears. This is probably as important as the prescription itself. I also added anti-glare coating to the lens which is supposed to reduce eye fatigue. I think I paid about $800 for the glasses. I didn’t have the glasses made by a franchise (e.g. Sears, LensCrafter). I no longer have daily afternoon headaches.
