The Electrical Engineering degree (BSEE) is tougher. The courses are much more theoretical and rigorous. In developmental Electrical Engineering, an MSEE is getting to be the minimum qualification. The Electronics Engineering Technology degree (BSET) involves less math and is more practical. An MSET is rarely required. Few schools offer an MSET. Wayne State is one. Some states allow BSET grads to sit for Professional Engineer exams, but the pass rate is very low. Instead, Technology grads should obtain “Certification” though NICET. Engineering Technology accreditation is handled by TAC/ABET, but there is another organization that handles “Industrial Technology”: NAIT. Industrial Technology (BSIT) is similar to Engineering Technology, but substututes a few courses in Industrial Management. So the BSIT degree is most suited to someone who wants to be conversationally and practically competent in some Engineering field, but wants to move evenutually into Management.
