Is there a difference between the categorical and preliminary intern programs?

0

Both our categorical and preliminary interns average 7-8 inpatient blocks including general medicine, critical care/coronary care unit, and night float. The preliminary interns have an additional elective block as the categoricals do a block of cardiology at San Francisco General Hospital and geriatrics/ physical medicine and rehabilitation. The amount of night float, admitting days and weekend coverage is comparable.
