Is there a difference between invasive species and alien species?
An alien or introduced species is any species that is living in an ecosystem it didn’t evolve in. An invasive species is an introduced species that is reproducing rapidly in the new environment (usually one that is spreading fast and competing with local species). I suggest you check what your particular textbook says, because these terms really aren’t that precisely defined.
