Is there a difference between CD-R finalization and fixation?
In the Fixation process the lead-in and lead-out information is written to the disk, and includes creating a table of contents. Fixation is required before the CD can be played by a CD-ROM drive or audio CD player. If the CD is going to be used for Multisession then the finalization must not be done until all the sessions have been completed. Though the fixated disk CD cannot be read by a standard drive until it has been finalized it can be read by a CD-R drive.
