Is there a difference between an inspection, tuneup or cleaning?

• NJR Home Services uses the terms inspection and tuneup to refer to our annual checkups on your heating or cooling system that extends the life of your system and helps minimize breakdowns. During an inspection our service technician checks all the major parts of your system to ensure it is running properly. If needed, the technician will repair or replace parts. An annual inspection on your heating system also includes a filter change. NJR Home Services uses the term cleaning to specify a different type of service that is more involved than an inspection/tuneup and is performed on a furnace. A cleaning is needed when there is soot in the unit interfering with operations. The procedure involves taking apart the furnace, cleaning the parts and then reassembling the furnace in working order.
