I mean, as a person who thinks he’s smart, I sure do believe I have a lot of answers. I keep wanting to be grandiose, and just legislate the behavior of others. Just one problem: people hate that, and don’t respond well to it. If people are going to do the right thing, they have to figure out what it is all on their own. You can’t tell them to do it. That simply doesn’t work. I think that smart people do have this impulse that it would be easier if they ruled the world, and could tell everyone what to do, problems would be gone in a flash! But the really smart people realize this is fantasy, and that to really fix the world’s problems, everyone has to be smart. So education is the key. And if people won’t pay to be educated, we have to find ways to get them into situations that teach them what they need to know, anyway.
