Is there a connection between perfect pitch and autism?

I’m not aware of any scientific research that has proven a connection between the two (although I haven’t really researched it). On a personal note, I have a child with autism who does have perfect pitch, I too have perfect pitch as did my maternal Grandfather and maternal Uncle. I also have a brother on the autism spectrum who has a terrible sense of pitch. In my family there appears to be a predisposition for both of these “abnormalities” occurring separately or together. So, from the information I have from my own family tree, my opinion is that in some cases there definitely seems to be a connection. What exactly that connection is and just how frequently the two are connected would be interesting to know. Good question.
