Is there a concern about safety when moving away from traditional playground equipment?
Theres less of a concern moving away from it … Every guideline about safety is about equipment because equipment is inherently unsafe…. Its boring, and when kids get bored they use equipment for things for which it was not intended. So they get up to the top of swing things … theyll take swings and swing as far as they can, then jump off … As a result thats when they get hurt … mostly from falls or entrapment. There is nothing inherently dangerous about a boulder, there is nothing inherently dangerous about a chasm you leap over, nothing inherently dangerous about … a little stream, theres nothing inherently dangerous about a walk in the woods. Theres nothing inherently dangerous about digging in the sand or dirt. You can use all those settings on purpose to hurt yourself.
