Is there a community of Gates Cambridge Scholars?
There is a very active community of scholars in Cambridge, who elect a representative body known as the Gates Scholars Council. At the start of the academic year, all Gates Cambridge Scholars participate in a week-long orientation hosted by the Council. Among its many activities, the Scholars Council organizes social events (such as formal dinners and trips to London and other UK destinations), hosts a distinguished speaker series, and communicates between the Trust and the Scholars. There is also a Gates Cambridge Scholars room in the centre of town which overlooks the river; the room includes computers, entertainment equipment, meeting spaces, and a small library.
